Tennis Legend Andy Murray recounts his extraordinary road to recovery in new feature length documentary
Produced by Pitch Productions in partnership with Passion Pictures and Scenes of Reason, Andy Murray: Resurfacing, will launch exclusively on Amazon Prime on 29 November. The documentary provides an unprecedented account of the tennis champion’s painstaking rehabilitation from injury, following Andy from the inner sanctum of surgical theatres, to the most intimate of spaces shared with family and team members.
Following the success of Dan Carter: A Perfect 10 and with the impending release of the All or Nothing series on Brazil National Football Team, Andy Murray: Resurfacing is the latest highly anticipated offering from Pitch Productions, which has established itself as one of the world’s leading sports documentary makers.
Initially intended to be a straightforward comeback from surgery story, Andy Murray: Resurfacing has since become a two-year, human story about a man unwilling to accept defeat. Following Andy almost every day throughout this period, the film gives viewers a unique insight into the complex physical, mental and emotional challenges he has faced on his journey to try and fix the unfixable, only to have his hopes dashed time and time again.
“I knew I was at a critical point in my career. At times it felt like I was letting people down by not being able to perform on court, and I wanted to give them an insight into what I was going through. I wanted to show the ups and downs of professional sport,” said Andy Murray.
“The film will take you on a journey through what were some of the lowest, most difficult periods of my life both physically and mentally, and will hopefully show and inspire viewers, that with the right mindset and work ethic, anything is possible.”
Jonathan Rogers, COO of Pitch International, said: “Few have reached the heights Andy has in sport and even fewer athletes have faced the adversity he has along the way.“
“During filming it became clear how extraordinary Andy’s journey has been and we’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to help tell that story. It’s another landmark moment for Pitch Productions, which continues to strengthen its reputation as a world-leader in sports documentary making.”
